Jason's older brother, Trent got into difficulties and began to drink, have drugs and sex. Jason witnessed first hand that his father never cared about, because he would prefer to just Trent him about his mother. Trent never talked to his mother again after the divorce. Abby (Jason's mother) has a friend, an overweight workaholic craftsman, and his father has an alcohol divorced friend has two girls infatuated with his girlfriend in both of Jason's.
